FAQ

A SKIPZ bin is a large, metal, open-topped container designed for transporting waste using a specialised skip truck. Our skip bins come in a range of sizes and styles for the purpose of holding and disposing of waste for recycling.

Booking a SKIPZ bin is easy! Simply visit our online booking page, fill in the required details, and we’ll deliver your bin ready for your clean-up.

SKIPZ offers a wide range of bins for all needs, from small residential clean-ups to large construction projects. All of our bins are designed and constructed to comply with Australian Standards.

For residential clean-ups, our 2m – 6m marrel bins will meet your requirements.

For commercial customers, we offer crane-able skip bins in various sizes, including 2m, 4m, 6m, 9m, and 12m options. These can accommodate sites ranging from high-rise buildings to suburban apartments.

SKIPZ offers several bin types:

  • Hook bins: are large SKIPZ bins which are typically rectangular, with straight sides of various heights and rear gates/doors making manual loading access easier. Hook bins are ideal for large construction or larger residential developments as they have a greater capacity and weight (SWL) than other types of bins.
    • Hook bin 6M, 9M,12M, 15M, 20M & 25M Bin
  • Marrel bins: Perfect for smaller developments or construction sites where smaller bins are needed due to space, you need crane-able bins or you have a surface you want to protect from the ravages of the Hook bin drag.
    • Marrell bins come in the following sizes: 2M3, 4M3, 6M3 and 8M3

Both bin types are available in a variety of sizes. Feel free to contact us if you’re unsure about which bin is best for your needs.

Monday – Friday      6am until 5pm

Saturday                    8am until 1pm

SKIPZ is not open on Sundays or Public Holidays.

In Melbourne, councils require a permit for skip bins placed on nature strips or roadsides. To avoid this, place your bin in the ‘driveway’ or ‘front lawn’. If the bin is placed outside your property, a $175 permit fee will automatically be added.

A permit is not currently required for residential skip bins in Brisbane.

Due to fire risk, we do not accept lithium batteries in general waste bins. This includes batteries found in toys, tools, and other devices.

If you can safely remove the lithium battery from the product by hand, tape the terminals using a non-conductive tape like clear sticky tape. Taped handheld lithium batteries can be returned to Australia’s official battery stewardship scheme – B-cycle.

For residential skip hire, our standard bin hire period is 4 days. We recommend booking a pickup within this time frame to avoid extra charges and ensure safe removal.

Each bin has a Safe Weight Limit (SWL) marked on it. Overweight bins may not be able to be transported safely. If your bin exceeds the weight limit, you may be asked to redistribute the load. Certain waste types, such as heavy items, can affect weight limits, so it’s important to be mindful when filling your bin.

Your bin is full when the waste reaches the rim. If needed, try breaking down bulky items to free up space. However, the bin cannot be collected if it’s overfilled, as it needs to be safely tarped and transported.

If your bin is overfilled, our driver will work with you to make it safe for transport. If necessary, you may be asked to remove some items, and we can provide an additional bin to help clear the waste.

You can request your bin to be placed anywhere on your property, but we recommend protecting areas like lawns, driveways, and pavements. Make sure there is enough space for the truck to safely deliver and pick up the bin, including overhead clearance for trees, power lines, or structures.

Bins placed outside your property’s boundary may require a permit. Call 1300 335 822 for advice on the best placement options.

  • Order the right-sized bin to avoid wasting space or overfilling. If unsure, call us at 1300 335 822 for advice.
  • Maximize space by breaking down bulky items and loading flat objects first.
  • To prevent unauthorized use, securely cover your bin when not in use.
  • Place lighter items on top to fill voids, but ensure items stay below the rim to avoid them falling out.
  • Consider potential damage to your property when selecting a drop-off location.

SKIPZ has an annual testing program in place, which ensures that all SKIPZ bins are independently tested at least once annually to confirm their structural integrity in particular the lifting points and crane lifting points.
